Authorities arrest suspect in fatal street racing collision

ALBUQUERQUE, NM – According to KOB, authorities arrested a suspect who allegedly caused a deadly wreck while street racing near Central Ave SW and 47th St SW on Aug. 18.

Edgar Silva was allegedly driving a black truck and was racing another vehicle east on Central Ave when he lost control of the truck, entered the westbound lanes, and slammed head-on into a black sedan around 2:30 a.m.

Emergency crews lifted the black truck off the sedan. Paramedics pronounced the sedan driver dead at the scene and transported Silva and his passenger to an area hospital. Silva suffered serious injuries in the wreck. The condition of his passenger is unclear.

Authorities arrested Silva on Tuesday. Silva is charged with homicide by vehicle and reckless driving. Test results are pending to determine if impairment was a factor in the collision.

Suspect arrested for causing deadly 5-car wreck in downtown Albuquerque

ALBUQUERQUE, NM – Authorities have arrested a woman accused of causing a fatal five-car collision at 2nd St NW and Lomas Blvd NW on Sunday, according to KOB.

Nikole Zamora was driving an SUV when she ran a red light at 2nd St NW and Lomas Blvd NW and crashed into a northbound car with a green light. The collision caused the car to crash into three vehicles that stopped at a red light on westbound Lomas Blvd NW.

Paramedics pronounced the car driver dead at the scene and transported their passenger to an area hospital in critical condition.

Zamora was crawling out of her flipped-over SUV when officers came to the scene.

Police towed the SUV from the scene and discovered a wallet on the floor containing Zamora’s driver’s license.

Investigators obtained a search warrant and retrieved data showing that the SUV was traveling at 70.2 mph in a 30 mph zone at the time of the impact.

Zamora has been charged with homicide by vehicle, great bodily harm by vehicle, reckless driving, driving with a suspended license, and failure to obey a traffic control signal.

Auto accident blocks traffic on I-40 near Moriarity

MORIARITY, NM – According to KKOB Traffic, a crash disrupted traffic on I-40 WB at mile marker 192 on Tuesday.

Emergency crews were called to the scene around 3:50 p.m.

Officials have not released more details.
