Authorities arrest 15-year-old boy for fatal hit-and-run crash near Academy Hills Park

ALBUQUERQUE, NM – According to KOAT, authorities have apprehended a 15-year-old suspect for a fatal hit-and-run that occurred near Academy Road Northeast and Moon Street Northeast on May 29, 2024.

The 15-year-old is one of three juveniles who were traveling in a vehicle that fatally collided with Scott Havermehl, who was riding a bicycle to work at around 5 a.m.

Police have charged the 15-year-old and a 13-year-old with conspiracy to commit murder, leaving the scene of an accident involving great bodily harm or death, and illegal firearm possession.

The 11-year-old was arrested on Tuesday. Prosecutors are working to determine what they can charge him with.

The 13-year-old appeared in court on Wednesday. A judge ruled that he will stay in custody until trial.

Dust storm causes multi-vehicle crash in Sandoval County

SANDOVAL COUNTY, NM – Nine people were hurt in a wreck involving 12 vehicles on Tuesday, according to KOAT.

First responders treated the nine injured people at the scene and transported them to an area hospital. Their current conditions are unknown.

Officials blame dust storms and dangerous wind for causing the massive wreck.

It is unclear exactly where and when the incident took place.

Auto accident disrupts traffic on New Mexico 128 near Jal

JAL, NM – According to NMRoads, a crash blocked traffic on New Mexico 128 near mile marker 53 on Thursday.

Emergency crews were called to the scene around 9:17 a.m.

Officials have not provided more details.
