At least 1 injured in collision on I-40 EB near Rio Grande

ALBUQUERQUE, NM — Albuquerque Police responded to an injury crash Monday morning on Interstate 40 in northwest Albuquerque, according to APD Traffic.

The accident happened on the eastbound lanes of I-40 between Coors Boulevard Northwest (NM-45) and Rio Grande Boulevard Northwest, near the river. Dispatchers first received the call shortly before 6:26 a.m.

Little information has been released, but at least one person sustained unspecified injuries.

All eastbound traffic of I-40 was reduced to a single open lane during the emergency response and investigation.


At this time, the APD has not shared the cause of the wreck or any details regarding those involved.
