ALBUQUERQUE, NM — Two people died Thursday after a motorcycle fled a traffic stop and collided with another vehicle in west Albuquerque, according to KOB4.

The crash happened at the intersection of Central Avenue and Atrisco Drive Southwest, near a shopping center.

Albuquerque Police said officers were attempting to pull over a motorcycle that was transporting two riders, but the operator failed to stop and fled.

The fleeing motorcycle ultimately struck another vehicle, killing the operator on the scene. The motorcycle passenger was rushed to a local hospital where she was later pronounced deceased.

An unspecified number of occupants in the other vehicle was also taken to an area hospital. No information on their conditions has been released at this time.

Multiple local agencies were at the site conducting an investigation, forcing the intersection to shut down.
