ALBUQUERQUE, NM – According to KOAT, a suspected impaired driver hit a firefighter who was responding to an unrelated crash on I-25 near Comanche Rd NE on Sunday.
Rebecca Melchor, 24, allegedly hit the firefighter as he was returning to an ambulance.
First responders transported the firefighter to an area hospital, where he remains in serious but stable condition.
Authorities have charged Melchor with great bodily harm by vehicle while under the influence of alcohol, open container violation, and careless driving.
Driver dies following single-vehicle crash near Los Altos Park
ALBUQUERQUE, NM – A driver died in a single-vehicle collision on I-40 WB near Eubank Blvd on Tuesday, according to KOB.
A pickup truck driver was in the second westbound lane when they strayed over and slammed into the barrier on the north shoulder around 3 a.m.
First responders pronounced the driver dead at the scene.
Investigators believe a vehicle malfunction may have caused the crash. There is also evidence that driver error or a possible medical episode could have been factors in the collision.
Officials have not released the victim’s name.
The Albuquerque Police Department is investigating the incident.
Emergency crews respond to crash on I-10 near Deming
DEMING, NM – According to NMRoads, first responders were called to the scene of an accident on I-10 near mile marker 61 on Tuesday.
Dispatchers received calls concerning the incident around 7:41 a.m.
The cause of the collision is under investigation.
