Alleged impaired driver crashes into building on Isleta Blvd

ALBUQUERQUE, NM – According to KOAT, a suspected drunk driver slammed into Elias Law at 111 Isleta Blvd SW on Thursday evening.

Mariano Vasquez Martinez, 25, reportedly told officers he had alcoholic beverages before getting behind the wheel. He had bloodshot eyes and slurred speech. Martinez failed breath tests and field sobriety tests.

Authorities arrested Martinez for DWI.

It is unclear if anyone was hurt in the collision.

Man pleads guilty to causing wreck that killed 2 people in Shiprock

SHIPROCK, NM – A man pleaded guilty to two counts of involuntary manslaughter and one count of assault for a drunk driving crash that occurred on US 64 on Dec. 1, 2023, according to KOAT.

Brian Gonnie, 44, was driving while drunk on US 64 when he crossed into oncoming traffic and collided head-on with another vehicle while going 86 mph in a 35 mph zone.

Gonnie’s passenger and the other driver died in the collision. A passenger from the vehicle that Gonnie hit suffered serious injuries. Gonnie had a BAC of .267%.

Gonnie told FBI agents he had been drinking and driving. He could face up to 10 years in federal prison.

 Auto accident disrupts traffic on I-10 near Deming

DEMING, NM – According to NMRoads, a wreck blocked traffic on I-10 WB, three miles west of Deming on Friday.

First responders were called to the scene around 7:25 a.m.

Officials have not released more information.
