Albuquerque woman sentenced for drunk driving crash that injured child

ALBUQUERQUE, NM – An Albuquerque woman was sentenced for a drunk driving crash that left two people injured, including her 5-year-old daughter, according to KRQE..

Rebecca Salazar was sentenced last week by Judge Courtney Weaks to six years in prison and additional time on probation for the March 30 collision in the area of Interstate 40 and Unser Boulevard. Authorities said Salazar was driving at over 97 miles per hour shortly before 6 p.m. when she crashed into a vehicle making a turn off the interstate. The other driver and Salazar’s daughter were both severely injured.

It was determined that Salazar’s blood alcohol level was two and a half times the legal limit during the incident, the second time she had been driving under the influence within a month.

She pleaded guilty to child endangerment in exchange for a sentence of four to twelve years in prison.

Pedestrian injured in hit-and-run collision in Albuquerque

ALBUQUERQUE, NM – Police were on the scene of a hit-and-run collision that injured a pedestrian in Albuquerque last week, KRQE reported.

The incident took place Oct. 13 in the vicinity of Central Avenue and Louisiana Boulevard, near Expo New Mexico. A pedestrian who was struck by a vehicle was critically injured and taken to an area hospital.

The driver involved fled the scene of the crash, police said.

Accident blocks traffic at intersection in South Valley

SOUTH VALLEY, NM – A traffic alert was issued by the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office following a crash in South Valley on Sunday evening.

The BCSO’s advisory at 6:20 p.m. stated that deputies responded to the intersection of Rio Bravo Boulevard and Isleta Boulevard. No further details were provided on the accident.

Southbound Isleta Boulevard was closed and eastbound Rio Bravo Boulevard was reduced to one lane while the crash was being cleared.
