Accident shuts down section of US-54 in Quay County

QUAY COUNTY, NM — Authorities responded to a collision Friday morning that blocked part of U.S. Highway 54 near southwest Logan, according to NM Roads.

The collision occurred on a span of US-54 at mile marker 320, just north of Quay County Road 71, in an area about 6 miles south of the city. It was first recorded in the NM Roads map index at 7:34 a.m.

At this time, the cause of the accident and the number of involved vehicles have not been disclosed.

The closure remained closed for at least the rest of the morning, suggesting a major crash and extended emergency response.

No injuries have been confirmed as of this writing.
