Accident closes two lanes on I-40 EB at Rio Grande in NW Albuquerque

ALBUQUERQUE, NM — A crash early Wednesday blocked two right lanes and a right shoulder on Interstate 40 in northwest Albuquerque, according to NMRoads511.

The collision occurred on the eastbound lanes at mile marker 156, near the Rio Grande, in the Vista Magnifica area. It was first recorded by NM Roads at 4:26 a.m.

Officials have not provided further information regarding the circumstances, but the crash left the two lanes and shoulder closed for over 30 minutes.

Shortly after 6:00 a.m., only one right lane and the right shoulder remained blocked.

By 6:10 a.m., the scene had been cleared and the entire roadway was reopened to traffic.

No injuries have been reported as of this writing.
