Accident closes three lanes of I-25 SB for hours near downtown Albuquerque

ALBUQUERQUE, NM — A vehicle crash was reported late Wednesday morning on Interstate 25, just south of downtown Albuquerque, according to NM Roads.

The collision was reported on the southbound lanes at Avenida Cesar Chavez, near the South Broadway area, shortly before 11:13 a.m.

Officials have not provided details on the cause of the wreck, but three left lanes were blocked and remained shut down for at least five hours. All southbound traffic was forced to get by through a single lane.

Drivers were encouraged to find alternate routes around the area.

It remains unclear at this time whether anyone was hurt.
