Accident closes shoulder on I-40 WB near Netherwood Park

ALBUQUERQUE, NM — A vehicle crash Friday morning blocked the right shoulder on Interstate 40 in Albuquerque’s Netherwood Park area, according to TTN Albuquerque.

The collision took place on the westbound lanes at Exit 159D to University Boulevard Northeast. It was first recorded by the New Mexico Department of Transportation at 8:20 a.m.

Few details have been provided, but the right lane was initially reported blocked before the scene was moved to the shoulder.


By 8:40 a.m., more than 20 minutes later, crews had cleared the accident, and all lanes were restored to traffic.


Authorities have not confirmed any injuries as of this writing.
