LEA COUNTY, NM — Emergency crews responded to a collision Thursday afternoon on New Mexico State Road 128 near west Jal, according to NM Roads.
The crash happened at mile marker 51, just a mile west of the city. It was first recorded in the NM Roads map index at 1:46 p.m.
Details are limited, but the accident had both eastbound and westbound lanes of NM-128 closed for at least three hours. The local electrical company joined first responders at the scene for downed power lines, indicating utility poles were struck.
Motorists were urged to take extra caution as they pass through the area. Alternate routes were recommended.
