QUAY COUNTY, NM — A collision Friday morning kept a right lane of Interstate 40 near San Jon blocked for several hours, according to NM Roads.
The crash happened on a stretch of I-40 at mile marker 353, just west of Quay County Road U and 17 miles east of Tucumacari. It was first recorded in the NM Roads map index at 5:23 a.m.
Officials have not said what led up to the wreck or how many vehicles were involved, but a right lane and left shoulder were blocked as a result.
As of 11:30 a.m., nearly three hours since NM Roads’ last update, the closure remains in place, suggesting a major accident and a more involved emergency response.
No major injuries have been confirmed at this time.
