ALBUQUERQUE, NM — A collision was reported Friday afternoon on Interstate 40 near northeast Albuquerque’s Netherwood Park neighborhood, reports NM Roads.
The crash impacted the westbound interstate at mile marker 160, just before University Boulevard Northeast, shortly before 1:10 p.m.
It was not immediately clear what caused the accident, but the right lane and right shoulder were closed.
Officials projected delays in the area and asked motorists to exercise caution.
As of 2:28 p.m., more than an hour later, the scene remained on the roadway, suggesting a major wreck and extended emergency response.
It remains unclear at this time whether anyone was injured.
