Accident at Rio Rancho intersection leaves 1 dead, 2 injured

RIO RANCHO, NM – Police were called to a fatal wreck in Rio Rancho on Saturday morning, the Rio Rancho Observer reported.

Police said two passenger vehicles collided in the area of New Mexico 528 and Corrales Road at about 9:15 a.m.

One person was pronounced dead at the scene, while two others were taken to an area hospital with undisclosed injuries.

The Rio Rancho Police Department’s traffic investigation team is trying to determine the cause of the crash, which shut down all lanes on NM 528 northbound and all but one southbound lane.

Lanes closed in both directions on U.S. 180 due to crash

DEMING, NM – Drivers in Luna County encountered road closures during Wednesday morning’s commute due to a crash.

According to an advisory on NMRoads at 7:47 a.m., the incident occurred on U.S. 180 at mile marker 148 in the Deming area.

The northbound and southbound lanes of the roadway were closed east of Faywood Hot Springs during the emergency response.

Semi-truck accident reported on Red Bluff Road in Chaves County

CHAVES COUNTY, NM – The Chaves County Sheriff’s Office reported that its deputies responded to a semi-truck accident last week.

The sheriff’s office said that a semi-truck rolled onto its side April 1 on Red Bluff Road at about 8:30 p.m.

When deputies arrived, they were able to get the driver out of the truck. The man had minor injuries and refused medical attention. The truck was pulling a helium trailer that was empty at the time of the crash.
