6 residents displaced when vehicle crashes into Albuquerque apartment building

ALBUQUERQUE, NM – Emergency crews were dispatched to a crash at an Albuquerque apartment building on Monday night.

In a Facebook post, Albuquerque Fire Rescue said the incident occurred shortly before 10:12 p.m. at 4401 Morris Street, site of the Eagle Point complex.

Rescuers arrived to find a vehicle had crashed into the building with one person trapped inside the vehicle who was extricated and transported from the scene. The crews searched and evacuated the apartment units, using ground ladders to access the second floor due to the stairwell having been destroyed.

Six people were displaced, with three of them assisted by the Red Cross. AFR Squad 2 evaluated the building for structural integrity.

Crash disrupts traffic on westbound Alameda Boulevard

ALBUQUERQUE, NM – Deputies with the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the scene of a crash in Albuquerque on Saturday evening.

In a traffic alert posted shortly after 6 p.m., the BCSO said the accident reduced westbound Alameda Boulevard down to one lane at Loretta Drive.

Drivers were advised to use caution when traveling through the area as the deputies worked to clear the wreck.

Teen to remain in custody in connection with collision that killed bicyclist

ALBUQUERQUE, NM – A teenager charged in connection with a collision that killed a bicyclist in Albuquerque will continue to be held in custody, a judge ruled last week.

KRQE reported the update in the case, in which the judge determined that the teen suspect remained a danger to the public.

The defendant is charged with murder in the May 29, 2024, incident near Constitution Avenue and Wyoming Boulevard. Authorities said the teen, who was 13 at the time, intentionally crashed a stolen car into a 63-year-old man who was riding his bicycle to work at Sandia National Laboratories.
