2 killed, 7 injured in single-vehicle crash on I-40

ALBUQUERQUE, NM – Two people died and seven others were rushed to the hospital following a rollover collision near I-40 early Sunday morning.

According to KRQE, the crash took place at about 3 a.m. as a driver was heading north on University Boulevard and lost control near the I-40 service road. The vehicle rolled at least once before striking a concrete pillar.

Two people, a man and a woman, were pronounced dead at the scene. Seven other occupants of the vehicle were taken to area hospitals with various injuries.

Police believe impairment, speed, and the large number of occupants in the vehicle were all factors in the deadly crash.
