BERNALILLO COUNTY, NM — Two juveniles suffered head trauma Saturday night as a result of an ATV accident in South Valley, according to KOAT.

The accident occurred at the intersection of Isleta Boulevard and Clinton Boulevard, near Clinton P Anderson Park in Adobe Acres area.

Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office deputies said a 12-year-old and a 16-year-old were operating an all-terrain vehicle southbound on Isleta Boulevard. Details remain limited, but at one point, the ATV was involved in a crash with a truck.

Both juveniles, who were not wearing helmets at the time of the wreck, were transported to a local hospital with head trauma injuries. Officials said one of the victims may have suffered a broken spine.

The BCSO said the driver of the truck was not reported hurt.

An investigation remains in progress. No other details have been made available, but officials noted ATVs are not allowed to travel on public roadways.
