2 dead, multiple injured following fiery crash near Rio Rancho

RIO RANCHO, NM – According to KOAT, two people were killed in a two-vehicle collision near King Blvd NW and Sheba Dr NW on Thursday.

The two cars collided around 5:30 p.m. Both vehicles were engulfed in flames following the collision.

First responders pronounced two people dead at the scene and transported at least two people to area hospitals in critical condition. It is unclear exactly how many people were injured in the wreck.

Officials have not provided information on what led up to the incident.

Judge sentences man for fatal crash that killed 10-year-old girl near Jack and Jill Park

ALBUQUERQUE, NM – A judge sentenced a man for a fatal crash that claimed the life of a ten-year-old girl near Bell Ave SE and San Pedro Dr. SE on March 27, 2023, according to KRQE.

John Beardent Jr. stole a state-owned SUV while on meth. He ran a stop sign at Bell Ave SE and San Pedro Dr. SE and collided with another vehicle.

The driver of the car that was struck, David Pizarro, suffered serious injuries, and his ten-year-old daughter died in the crash.

Bearden Jr. pleaded guilty to homicide by vehicle and great bodily injury by vehicle DWI, knowingly leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death, and auto theft.

A judge sentenced Bearden Jr. to 22 years in prison and five years of probation.

Auto accident blocks traffic in South Valley

SOUTH VALLEY, NM – According to BCSO, a crash disrupted traffic and downed power lines at Isleta Blvd SW and Torres Rd SW on Wednesday.

First responders were called to the scene around 10:47 p.m.

Officials have not released more details.
