2 dead in collision involving car and tractor-trailer on Interstate 40

ALBUQUERQUE, NM – Two people were killed in a two-vehicle collision on the outskirts of Albuquerque on Monday, KOB reports.

The Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office stated that a car and a tractor-trailer were involved in the crash on I-40 west in the area of mile marker 144. Both vehicles caught fire as a result.

The driver and passenger in the car were killed. The truck driver was not seriously hurt. The westbound lanes of I-40 were closed in the area while the fatal wreck was being cleared. All lanes were reopened by 2:15 p.m.

Wrong-way driver involved in head-on collision on I-40

ALBUQUERQUE, NM – The Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office investigated a head-on collision that occurred on Interstate 40 early Sunday morning.

According to a traffic alert at 4:20 a.m., the crash took place at the 172 mile marker of the interstate after a driver traveled eastbound in the westbound lanes.

Westbound I-40 was blocked for the investigation and the transport of the wrong-way driver to a hospital. No details were available on the person’s condition.

Deputies respond to crash on U.S. 70 in Chaves County

CHAVES COUNTY, NM – Deputies with the Chaves County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene of a vehicle crash on Friday night.

The CCSO’s Facebook post at 8:22 p.m. stated that the collision occurred at the intersection of U.S. 70 west and Mark Road. Photos showed two vehicles that were involved, both of which sustained significant damage. There were no immediate reports of injuries.

The New Mexico State Police handled the crash investigation with assistance from the sheriff’s office. Motorists were advised to avoid the area.
