FARMINGTON, NM – Police said two people were charged in connection with a recent head-on collision in Farmington.
In a Facebook post, the Farmington Police Department said the crash occurred on Butler Avenue the weekend of May 16-17, and was linked to street racing.
Multiple injured were injured in the wreck, but the post added that “it is truly fortunate that no lives were lost”. Photos posted by police show heavy damage one of the vehicles involved.
“Incidents like this are a serious reminder that reckless driving and racing on public roadways can have devastating consequences in a matter of seconds,” the police department said. “Street racing is not only illegal but also incredibly dangerous and puts our entire community at risk. Parents, please have ongoing conversations with your kids about safe driving habits and the real consequences of reckless behavior behind the wheel.”
