17-year-old killed in collision involving car and ATV in southwest Roswell

ROSWELL, NM – A teenager on an all-terrain vehicle was killed in a collision in southwest Roswell last week, according to the Roswell Daily Record.

The fatal crash occurred Oct. 9 at the corner of South Union Avenue and West McGaffey Street at about 8:40 p.m. Authorities said the ATV was involved in a crash with a Ford Escape.

One of the two ATV occupants, a 17-year-old male, died after being taken to an area hospital. The other occupant, a 20-year-old man from Roswell, sustained injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening. A 42-year-old Roswell woman who was driving the Ford was not injured in the crash.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation.

Rollover accident blocks eastbound lane on Crest Road

BERNALILLO COUNTY, NM – The Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office was called to an accident in Sandia Park early Sunday morning.

A traffic alert posted at 4:16 a.m. said deputies were at the scene of a rollover crash on Crest Road. The eastbound lane was blocked near mile marker 4 during the emergency response. No major injuries were reported.

Drivers were asked to use extreme caution as they traveled through the area.

Crews respond to wreck on Interstate 40 in Wagon Wheel

TORRANCE COUNTY, NM – The New Mexico Department of Transportation said a motor vehicle crash impacted traffic along a stretch of Interstate 40 in Torrance County on Sunday afternoon.

According to a post on NMRoads at 4:43 p.m., the accident shut down the left lane of I-40 westbound at mile marker 209 in Wagon Wheel.

Emergency services were reported to be at the scene and working to clear the crash. There were no immediate reports of injuries.
