ALBUQUERQUE, NM — One person was hospitalized with serious injuries Wednesday night after being ejected during a rollover crash in west Albuquerque, according to the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office.

The crash happened on the northbound lanes of Frontage Road Southwest along Interstate 4o and just west of Atrisco Vista Boulevard. It was first reported by the BCSO at 8:43 p.m., some time after deputies had already arrived on the scene.

Although the cause of the wreck remains unclear, officials say a vehicle appeared to have veered off the freeway before rolling onto the frontage road.

One occupant suffered “severe” injuries after being ejected from the vehicle. First responders rushed the victim to University of New Mexico Medical Hospital, where the patient’s condition remains undisclosed.

Both east and westbound lanes of the frontage road were shut down in the area as deputies initiated an investigation. Motorists were urged to use extra caution and were warned of delays. Alternate routes were recommended.
