1 found deceased after injury crash in Albuquerque’s Nob Hill area

ALBUQUERQUE, NM — One person died Sunday night after a vehicle wreck in southeast Albuquerque that sent another to a hospital, reports KOAT.

Albuquerque Police responded to the scene in the area of Coal Avenue Southeast and Vassar Drive Southeast, near The University of New Mexico.

It was unclear what caused the accident, but by the time officers arrived, the driver had fled the scene on foot. A passenger in the vehicle was taken to a local hospital with undisclosed injuries.

Not long after, the APD received reports of a man, believed to be the driver, trying to go over a fence in the 3100 block of Silver Avenue Southeast. Officers found the reported person deceased at the scene.

The department has not shared other details at this time.
