1 driver dead, 1 hurt in collision on Caja del Rio Road in Santa Fe

SANTA FE – A two-vehicle wreck in Santa Fe on Wednesday left one of the drivers dead, according to the Santa Fe New Mexican.

Santa Fe police and firefighters were called to the scene of the collisiion on Caja del Rio Road shortly before 5 p.m. One driver was dead at the scene while the other was taken to an area hospital. No details were provided on the person’s condition.

The road was shut down for several hours while the scene was being cleared and investigated.

Man facing charges over fatal wreck in Clovis

CLOVIS, NM – A man is facing charges in connection with a fatal wreck in Clovis on New Year’s Day, the Eastern New Mexico News reports.

20-year-old Julian Romo has been charged with homicide by vehicle and other felonies, including probation violation, aggravated fleeing a law enforcement officer, and possession of a firearm or destructive device by a felon 

Police said Romo was driving a 2021 Ford Mustang at high speed while attempting to evade police, and crashed near Curry County Road 7. The Mustang went off the roadway and rolled multiple times.

Romo’s brother, 27-year-old Jesus Romo, was ejected from the vehicle and killed. Data indicated Julian Romo was driving at speeds of up to 149 miles per hour just prior to the crash.

According to the report, officers found beer cans in the debris field where the car crashed as well as an empty box of alcohol inside the vehicle along with marijuana.

BCSO responds to crash on Central Avenue in Albuquerque

ALBUQUERQUE, NM – The Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to crash in Albuquerque early Sunday morning.

According to a traffic alert on X at 2:50 a.m., the accident shut down westbound Central Avenue at 98th Street.

Drivers were urged to plan ahead if traveling in that area. All lanes were reported to have reopened about two and a half hours later.
