ALBUQUERQUE, NM — One person suffered severe head trauma Tuesday morning due to a rollover crash involving multiple vehicles north of downtown Albuquerque, reports KOAT.
The accident happened on Fourth Street Northwest at Cordova Avenue Northwest, in the city’s Near North Valley neighborhood.
According to Albuquerque Police, a white Ford Fiesta was heading northbound on Fourth Street Northwest when it began turning left at the intersection. Moments later, its passenger side was struck by a second vehicle, causing the Ford Fiesta to overturn. A third vehicle that was parked and unoccupied was also struck during the rollover.
First responders rushed the driver of the Ford Fiesta to an area hospital in critical condition. The APD said the patient, who was receiving treatment for a serious head injury, has been listed in stable condition.
No other major injuries have been reported following the crash.
An investigation remains ongoing, but officials say the primary cause of the wreck appears to have been the Ford Fiesta turning left. Speed is also believed to have played a role.
