DEMING, NM – A driver died and a passenger was injured when their pickup truck crashed in Deming late Monday night, authorities said.
According to KFOX, a Dodge Ram pickup was going south on Eighth Street near Orno Road when the accident occurred at about 11:52 p.m.
The pickup went off the roadway and crashed into a cinder block fence, according to investigators. The driver, identified as 29-year-old Britain Childers of Deming, was thrown from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.
A 27-year-old man who was a passenger was flown to a Texas hospital for treatment. Neither person was wearing their seatbelts, police said.
New Mexico State Police are trying to determine the cause of the crash.
