News: 68-year-old woman dies after crash near Albuquerque intersection

ALBUQUERQUE, NM – A two-vehicle crash near an intersection in Albuquerque left one of the drivers dead, New Mexico State Police said in a news release.

Police responded to the incident last Friday in the area of Jefferson Street and Menaul Boulevard at about 5:19 p.m.

According to the initial investigation, 68-year-old Adeline Mora of Albuquerque was driving a Honda sedan north on Jefferson Street. When the Honda entered the intersection with Menaul Boulevard it was hit by a Jeep Patriot SUV.  A spare tire from the Honda then struck a Dodge pickup in a nearby parking lot.

Mora was pronounced dead at the scene.  The driver of the Jeep, a 34-year-old Albuquerque woman, was taken to a hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.  Four children in the Jeep, ages 12 to 15, were not injured. Two people in the Dodge also were not hurt.

New Mexico State Police are continuing their investigation into the collision, and said that alcohol does not appear to have been a contributing factor.
